2016 Olympic Swimming Results: Phelps and Ledecky Both Rock!

The year is 2006. Katie Ledecky is just a 9-year-old swimmer. Her favourite athlete is Michael Phelps. She loves him very much because he is the greatest swimmer in the world. Phelps is Ledecky’s hero. One day Phelps comes to her town. Little Katie manages to get an autograph from her idol. And she doesn’t forget to take a photo with Phelps as well. Katie’s dream is to become an Olympics swimmer like him one day.

Ten years later, in 2016, the two become teammates representing the U.S. in the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Both of them win gold medals for their performances in the pool. Ledecky wins five medals at the 2016 Olympics. Phelps wins his 22nd Olympic gold medal in Rio.

After their victories in Rio, the two swimming superstars recreate their 2006 photo together. But this time there’s a slight twist: in the new photo, Phelps is the eager fan who wants to have his poster signed by the legendary Ledecky.

"Katie's doing her thing and she's breaking records every time she gets in the pool. It's an honour for me to be a part of the team with her” Phelps says. If that isn't proof that if you work hard enough, you can end up working alongside your idols one day, then what is? Dreams really do come true!
