A BIRTHDAY CAKE FOR BREAKFAST

A BIRTHDAY CAKE FOR BREAKFAST

It’s Elliot’s 10th birthday. He is sleeping in his bed. There is another bed in the room, but it’s empty.
His brother Walt is
downstairs in the kitchen. They are making a surprise birthday cake for Elliot.
It’s very early in the morning and they’re already in the kitchen.
‘A birthday cake for breakfast! Elliot is so lucky Mum!’ says Walt.
There is a cooking book on the kitchen counter. He is
looking at the book and reading the ingredients.
‘So we need two eggs, some milk, some butter, some berries and some
sugar.’ ‘He sure is a lucky boy,’ says Mum.
‘Now, can you look in the fridge and tell me what we have please?’
Walt opens the fridge and says, ‘There are a few eggs. I think they’re enough for the cake.
There aren’t any
raspberries, but there are some blueberries. There isn’t any milk.
But wait, there’s some
cream in the box and we can replace the milk with it.
There is a lot of fruit. There are
some peaches and apples. There are also mushrooms and green peppers.’
‘Well, I don’t think mushrooms and green peppers are good for a birthday cake,’ giggles Mum.
‘Is there any butter?’ she asks. ‘Yes, there is some,’ says Walt.
‘All right!
Now whisk these two eggs and some sugar. I can wash the blueberries
and the peaches.
A cake with some blueberries and peaches sounds delicious,
doesn’t it?’
