A Crime
It was a cold February night. It was late and I was riding my bike to go home. I was dreaming about having a hot shower and eating hot chicken soup, because I felt so cold. On my way, I passed the church and heard the bell ringing for 11 o’clock. My mind was full. I was thinking about the work, the things I have to do at home and the meetings of next week. Suddenly, I saw a man coming very close to me. He was on a skateboard and he was so fast. He was about to crash into me. I saw his face too, but at the beginning the only thing I saw was something big that he carried in his jacket. Unfortunately, I couldn’t see what that was. He was very nervous and he was in a hurry too. He just said “Oh, sorry” and he went on riding his skateboard quickly. I started to talk to myself: “What was that? Who does this person remind me of?” After a few minutes, I remembered him. He was Johnny’s friend, Bob. But what was he doing here at this time of the night?
A few days later, I was amazed when a detective showed up at my door. He asked me some questions about the man I saw a few days ago. He told me that he was investigating a crime and Bob was one of the suspects. He was trying to find some clues to arrest the real suspect. He asked me some questions about his clothes, his face and the things with him. I told him that he had something big in his jacket, but I couldn’t see what it was.
Two months later, while I was reading the newspaper, I saw Bob’s photograph with a purse full of dollars. He was a thief and he was arrested. The newspaper didn’t write all the details, but it was so clear that he was sent to prison for years.
