A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A FIREFIGHTER

Paul and Samantha are firefighters. They have a busy and dangerous job. They have to go to work five times a week. Sometimes they have to work at night or on the weekends. When they arrive at work they have to check their equipment and check the fire engine. Paul has to clean the fire engine three times a week. Sometimes the fire engine is broken, so Samantha has to repair it. Firefighters have to be fit and healthy. Both Samantha and Paul have to go to the fire station gym every day. Samantha likes PE, so she likes going to the gym. Paul does not like it. He thinks it is dull. 

While they are waiting for a fire, they do other things. Paul likes to play backgammon. He isn't very good at it, so Samantha usually beats him. Samantha always studies maths, science and English, when she has time. She wants to be an engineer. 

When a fire happens, the firefighters have to move quickly. Paul has to drive the fire engine and Samantha has to tell him where to go. When they get to the fire they work together to rescue people and put the fire out.
