A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A SAFARI GUIDE

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A SAFARI GUIDE

Abioye has been working as a safari guide in Kenya since 2010. He has worked for the “Kenya Safari” company since 2015. He works as a driver and guide for the tourists who like to go on safaris. Nobody knows the region’s natural reserves, parks and animals better than he does.

A typical work day for Abioye starts very early in the morning – he gets up at 5.30 am. He leaves his house in half an hour to get the tourists from their hotels. He welcomes his guests at 6.30 am. The groups generally consist of 5 or 6 people. After they introduce themselves to each other, the safari tour begins.

It takes almost an hour from the hotel to the safari region. On the road, Abioye tells his guests about interesting stories that he has experienced as a safari guide. These stories fascinate the visitors. They get more fascinated when they see the wild animals so close for the first time in their lives.

After a tiring but an enjoyable safari, around 5 pm the departure starts. The guests enjoy watching the sun set on their way back. When Abioye takes his guests back to their hotels, he goes home to spend the evening with his family. Although he feels tired, he feels proud at the same time as he has given everyone an unforgettable experience.
