A Different Language

My grandpa loves fishing. I don’t like fishing, but I like eating fish.
Every Sunday I go to my grandpa’s house
and we go fishing together.
I get really cold in the winter because we just stand and wait by the sea, and
it’s really, really windy.
When we get home, we drink some hot tea because we don’t want to get sick. Then
we cook the fish together.
After lunch, we usually spend some time in the garden. We fix grandpa’s old bike
or talk to the neighbour.
His name’s Johnny and he’s a very nice man. He always gives me some Legos or
books.
Johnny is deaf, so he can’t hear or speak. He is a teacher at a school for deaf children.
My grandpa
and Johnny speak in sign language. Johnny makes a lot of gestures with his hands.
It’s great that they can
speak a language with their hands! It’s like a secret language, so cool!
When they talk and laugh, I feel sad
because I don’t understand anything. I want to learn sign language, too.
I want to make a joke speaking in
sign language and surprise Johnny!
