A Famous Invention: Ice Lollies

We love eating food but we especially like one type of food: sweets and desserts. Who doesn’t like sweets? Many people think that only children love eating chocolates, cakes or ice cream but this is not true. People around the world love sweets. Adults also find sweets amazing.

At home, families enjoy a sweet dessert after meals. My favourite dessert is the ice lolly. Do you know how the ice lolly was invented? Frank Epperson discovered it by mistake in 1905. Frank was only eleven years old. One day, he left his drink with a mixing stick in outside. It was very cold and the drink froze. After some time, he remembered the drink in the cold. When he took it out of the cup, it stayed on the stick. That’s the story of the first ice lolly. Of course, he didn’t immediately sell his invention in shops because he, the inventor, was a very young boy. Frank Epperson opened his first ice lolly factory in 1923. Today, the factory produces millions of ice lollies worldwide.
