A game testers

What can be more enjoyable than playing video games and getting money for it? Meet Ryan, a gamer who works for three video-game development companies. He plays video games before they come out and finds the problems in them. He is very happy with his job. He says, ‘Thanks to my job, I’ve been to lots of international video-game festivals and competitions, and the game companies pay for my trips to other countries.’ 

You may think this is an easy job, but it is not. Ryan has to play video games all evenings after school. He must be very good at these games too. He has learnt a lot of tricks to win difficult games. ‘This is an important skill because I have to play all parts of a game. Sometimes I have to play a part of a game ten times before I win it,’ he says. 

This dream job comes with its problems too. Because of his job, Ryan has not travelled anywhere with his family in the past two years. He has spent most of his summer inside his room, and his only friends have been the online players. He says, ‘I haven’t found any time to go out and have fun with my friends. It doesn’t have to be like that next year, because I’m going to work for only one company soon.’
