A head-to-head comparison: Hollywood vs. Bollywood

Hollywood and Bollywood are well-known silver screens. Hollywood is a place in Los Angeles in the USA whereas there is no place like Bollywood in India; (a) it is just the banner of Indian movies. Both Hollywood and Bollywood rule the hearts of billions of movie-buffs worldwide, but there are many differences between (b) them. Let’s see!

A. ……………………….. Hollywood films are made on a wide range of subjects including fiction, action, horror, science, comedy, romance, drama, etc. The script plays an important role and so does the protagonist and characters. But this is not the case with Bollywood movies. Protagonists are larger than life and script isn’t important in Bollywood. Most of the themes are the same old melodrama, romance and family-based stuff.

B. ……………………….. Bollywood in recent years has become more advanced than before, but no one can surpass the level of technical support Hollywood provides to its cinema. The kind of technical effects used in movies like The Matrix, Avengers, Avatar, War of the Worlds, The Martian are out of the world. (c) They make the audience jump from their seats. Bollywood hasn’t given us such marvels yet.

C. ……………………….. Bollywood movies are much longer than the Hollywood movies. The noisy songs and weird dances consume loads of the time. This definitely increases the length of the movies. (d) They are normally three to four hours long. Hollywood movies, on the other hand, are about two hours in length.

D. ……………………….. Hollywood movie producers earn billions of dollars with just one movie getting hit worldwide. That’s why it is the highest revenue earning film industry. However, this is not the case with the Bollywood movie makers. (e) They have less accessibility in the global theatre. Still, Bollywood can be said as the third-largest revenue-earning film industry.

E. ……………………….. Hollywood has a wider reach in terms of the global audience. Hollywood movies are known and loved worldwide. (f) It has global recognition. But Bollywood is still in the initial stages of making its presence felt the world over. Bollywood movies are slowly and steadily being known across the world.
