A Life of Philanthropy
Narges Ashtari is a British philanthropist who is famous for her work in India and Iran. When she was a teenager, she lost both her parents and moved to Canada to live with her aunt. She studied Business Management and Tourism Management in the UK, but she had to abandon her academic studies because of her emigration to Canada.
In 2010, Narges established Parishan Foundation in eastern India to take care of orphaned or abandoned children. Things were going well for her until, in 2014, one of the children in her orphanage drowned in a river, and Narges was arrested by the police. As a result, she asked for help from the British government. Since Narges had Iranian parents, the Government of Iran also got involved in her case. Finally, the court decided that Narges was innocent, and she could get out of India.
In 2017, an earthquake hit western Iran, which caused more than 600 deaths and 8,100 injuries. Also, about 70,000 people were left homeless. To help the people affected by the earthquake, Narges started a campaign that instantly became popular. In just a few days, people donated millions of dollars to her campaign to help the victims of the earthquake. Since 2017, her efforts have been of great help for the local people in western Iran, and she has achieved a great deal of success in her relief efforts.
