A Lucky Day at the Festival

A Lucky Day at the Festival

Jessica Charm has just returned from an unusual holiday. Her story is full of unexpected events. As she says, ‘Just when you think nothing else can possibly happen, it does!’

Jessica travelled with her husband, Kennedy, and her three children, Clark, Tom and Reggie. They were very happy and so excited,’ says Jessica. ‘Taking the kids to the festival was amazing – a festival with lots of games and fun. It was to be the perfect holiday!’

The family started the trip by car but first, Kennedy took the wrong turning and they found themselves on the wrong motorway. This made them lose an hour. Then he drove faster than usual to catch the ferry. On the way, he got stopped and had a speeding ticket. They had to pay an extra 200 dollars.

Unfortunately, they missed the ferry. They had to take the next one. As they booked online, when they were late they couldn’t cancel it.

They arrived late at the hotel. Their hotel reservation was cancelled. They had to find another hotel and pay more money. They could only find one room because all the hotels were so busy. They had to share the room and it was so uncomfortable. They all woke up early in the morning. It was hours before the festival would start. Jessica asked the kids to take their tickets out of her bag. There was a silent moment. They all screamed ‘Oh, no!’ Jessica forgot the tickets at home. Kennedy said, ‘I didn’t bring enough money for more tickets. In fact, I haven’t got any money left. ’Luckily, they found a bank next to the hotel. Then they drove to the festival area.

At the gate, something amazing happened. They were the 1000th family to arrive and they won the best prize of the day. All the games and rides were free of charge!
