A MESSAGE FROM YAKUTSK, RUSSIA

I hope this message isn’t cold like ice! I’m Yulia from Yakutsk, Russia.

Some people say our city is the coldest city in the world. For five months a year, the temperatures are below zero. Sometimes in January, it is −55°C. People from other parts of the country say it is too cold for them, but even on winter nights the people of Yakutsk go out and have fun. The weather is terrible in winter, so there aren’t many flights to Yakutsk in winter.

Our city is very far from other cities in Russia, so it takes a lot of time to drive to another city. Every summer, we buy the things we need for winter, so we have everything when the weather is very bad.
