A New Bookworm?

A New Bookworm?

Hi, my name’s Tina. Reading books was never part of my family’s culture.
I can’t
remember my parents picking up books and reading them in their free time.
Instead
my dad always went golfing with his friends and my mum always invited her friends for a tea,
or they went out shopping. So I can say that I was like them until two week ago!
Last summer we moved to Calgary in Canada, so I went to this new high school.
On
1st October our high school took all the students on a 5-day trip to a camp in the countryside.
Everything was like my previous school, except one thing! The students
read books together and enjoyed it.
They had reading competitions in the evening and
then discussed what they learnt during breakfast the next morning! I didn’t want them to know that I didn’t read books, so I picked up a book and read it on the first evening.
Then
they chose me to talk about it the next day! The story was good and enjoyable,
so I stayed up all night and read the book. The next morning I acted out the story in the book,
and everybody liked it. I made close friends right
after that. Now I actually like reading books!
