A Reading: Shopaholics

A shopping addict is someone who shops compulsively and who feels like they have no control over their own behaviour. Well, it is actually difficult to tell if you, or your friend, or a family member is a shopoholic. Many people enjoy shopping and most of us sometimes spend too much money while engaging in this activity. This doesn’t mean that you are a shopping addict. However, there are several signs and symptoms shopping addicts display.

Like all addicts, shopping addicts may try to hide their addiction. They may hide credit card bills, shopping bags or receipts. Shopaholics usually spend more than they can afford and easily lose control. Many shopping addicts face financial problems, and they may become overwhelmed with debt.

According to Shopaholics Anonymous, there are different types of shopaholics. For instance, compulsive shopaholics are the ones who shop when they are depressed, unhappy or moody.

Trophy shopaholics are type of people who are in search for the perfect item. They adore the idea of being seen as a big spender and they are usually fond of flashy items.

Bargain seekers are the ones who purchase items they don’t need but just because they are on sale.

Bulimic shoppers can’t stop buying things but always find themselves returning the items to the shop for various reasons.

Collectors are the type of shoppers who buy every colour of the item they like. You can see them wearing the same shirt in different colours.
