A School Day in England
In England, students start arriving at school at about 8:45 am and school begins at 8:55 am. The teacher blows a whistle and children line up into their class groups. Every morning, the class teacher first takes attendance. After attendance, all of the students usually go to assembly to listen quietly to the morning music. But today, they are having some free time in the garden. The first lesson of the day begins at 9:30 am and lasts for one hour. The morning lessons are usually English or Math. Students have their morning break from 10:20 to 10:35 am. They can bring a packet of chips, fruit or a couple of cookies from home to eat in the playground. Then, they usually play games in the playground, but today, they are studying for their final exam. Lunchtime is from noon to 1:10 pm. All of the students bring their own packed lunches from home, but today, some of them are having lunch in the school cafeteria. After lunch, they have reading activities and other school subjects like gymnastics, science, history and art. Finally, school finishes at 3:15 pm and students go back to their houses.
