A SCIENCE LESSON

A SCIENCE LESSON

Last week, we were in our science lesson and our topic was about forces. Our teacher pushed her table and a desk in front of the class. She asked for someone to help her. Lena wanted to help. The teacher asked her to pull the table. My friend tried to pull but she could only pull it a little because it was too heavy. The teacher pulled her desk. She pulled it easily. It was easy for her because it was light. When the teacher asked which one is heavy and which one is light, the whole class answered correctly. The table is heavier than the desk and the desk is lighter than the table. “Which one needs a lot of force and which one needs a small amount of force?” Our teacher asked. “For the table we need lots of force and for the desk we only need a small amount of force. But when we increased our force, we could pull the desk more,” explained Lena. We learned that when we pull or push heavy things with a small amount of force, we can’t move it because it needs more force. When we pull or push something light, we can move it with a small amount of force.
