A Surprising Survival Story
On a late October night in 2014 in Kunshan City in eastern China, a man called Li was walking home.
He decided to cross a busy road, so he took the zebra crossing.
He stopped in the middle to wait for the cars that were coming from the other direction to pass.
It was when a van hit him hard, and he fell to the ground. While he was lying on the ground in pain,
another car came along and hit him. This was 10 seconds after the van hit him.
This time he wasn’t moving, but some people on the road saw him.
So they ran to the middle of the road to prevent other cars from hitting him again.
Two men were stopping the coming cars when they saw a car coming at them very fast.
The driver of the car was able to stop her car. But the car behind her hit her because she stopped too quickly.
This pushed his car forward and onto poor Li. However, Li was lucky; he didn’t die,
but the accident broke his left leg and six of his ribs.
