A Teen in England

In England, teens must go to school until they are 16. After 16, they can continue on to college for two years if they want. At college, we do A levels. You must get good grades in your A levels if you want to go to university. People usually study 3 A levels at college. Some people study more, but they are usually very clever! Also, very clever students needn’t wait until college to do their A levels, they can take them when they are still at school.

College is usually quite fun. You don’t have to wear a uniform and you typically don’t have as many lessons per day as you do at school. You needn’t go to all of the lessons, but you must attend at least 70% to pass the course. You meet lots of new friends and learn loads of new things. The teachers treat you more like an adult at college, but you must still respect them and listen to what they tell you. You needn’t do everything your teacher tells you, but, if you want to be successful, you really must pay attention.
