A TRIP ACROSS TWO DESERTS

A TRIP ACROSS TWO DESERTS

These days lots of tourists and outdoor enthusiasts want to do something special.
They travel to Iran to drive across
two large deserts there – the Great Salt Desert and the Lut Desert.
These deserts, especially the Lut Desert, are two
of the driest deserts in the world.
The temperature in the
Lut Desert sometimes reaches 70°C, which is the hottest on Earth.
There are no humans living in these two deserts.
You can
only find a few villages in the outer areas of the Great Salt Desert.
Spring and fall are the best seasons to drive through
these deserts because
the difference between day and night
temperatures isn’t a lot.
The challenge begins at Jamkaran, a village 100 kilometers from the capital city,
Tehran, and ends in Zahedan, about
800 kilometers away.
The drivers use special desert maps
to avoid dangers like big rocks, dangerous hills and soft sand.
There are no winners or losers in this challenge. The goal is to finish the challenge,
so
teams stop on the way to give each other a hand when they need help.
