A Trip to Africa

Tom and Zoe are in Africa with their families. They are in a car driving through a safari park. Tom and Zoe have got binoculars to look at the animals.
Tom: Look at these zebras Zoe! Wow, they run so fast!
Zoe: They look like horses. But horses haven’t got stripes.
Tom: Also, horses have got long hair. Zebras have got short hair behind their necks.
Zoe: What are these animals behind the hill? They are standing on their back legs.
Tom: They look like squirrels. But squirrels have got long tails. Mum, what are these animals over there?
Tom’s Mum: Oh, they are meerkats. They live in small groups. They are mammals. They have got stripes.
Zoe: Look at these elephants. Wow, they have babies, too! They are so cute. They have huge ears.
Tom: Look at that baby elephant over there. It has got a tiny tail. Some of the elephants have got big tusks. They look scary.
Tom’s Mum: Elephants are not dangerous. They are usually very calm. But if they have got babies they can be dangerous. They protect their babies very carefully.
