A Year in My Country
Hi Friends! I’m Peter from Hungary. I go to a primary school. I want to tell you about a year in my country. We start school on the 1st of September. (Children don’t like this very much!) Autumn is often hot and sunny here and all the trees are full of fruit. In October and November, it’s usually cold and windy. It is rainy and foggy and the leaves fall off the trees.
Winter is really cold in Hungary. The temperature falls below zero. It usually snows and there are very strong winds. Winter sports like skating, sledding, snowboarding etc. are very popular here but in Hungary, we don’t have very high mountains so people go abroad to ski.
I really enjoy spring because it is warm again after the long, cold, wet, and foggy days. Trees and bushes are full of blossoms and there are lovely spring flowers everywhere. The weather changes quite a lot in spring, especially in April. It often rains and there can be hard winds, too. Sometimes, it’s cloudy but most of the time it is warm and sunny.
My favourite season is summer. Hungary is very hot in July and August. Sometimes, there are light showers or rainstorms with thunder and lightning. There many types of fruit in the summer.
Children prefer the summer because there is no school and we can take our holidays and have lots of fun!
