Airbnb

..............................

The story of the house-sharing website, Airbnb, began in 2007 in San Francisco.
After Brian Chesky and Joe Gebbia moved to New York, they had very little money to pay their rent.
They looked for a way to earn more money, so they bought a few airbeds and started a website called ‘Air Bed and Breakfast’.

Their idea worked and Nathan Blecharczyk joined their team to help them with their idea and website.
They started Airbnb again in 2008.

People posted pictures of their homes they wanted to share,
and visitors contacted them when they could find the right place. When there was a political event in Denver,
the US, Airbnb helped visitors find other people’s homes in the city to stay in.
Brian, Joe and Nathan made a lot of money with this idea.

Their business grew slowly until they understood that the pictures of the homes were not good enough,
so in 2009 they bought a professional camera and took good pictures of the homes. This idea worked,
and more and more people discovered Airbnb.

Today Airbnb has 4 million homes on its list from 191 countries.
Last year about 100 million guests stayed in other people’s homes. That’s why Airbnb is now worth 25 billion dollars.
