Alicia’s Big Mistake
It was a lovely morning at the beach. Alicia was alone and looking at the people around. Then, she heard a beeping sound. Her mom had sent a text, “Alicia, where are you? I need you at home. Can you please come and help me?”. Alicia was unhappy because her mom called her and she had to go.
She got home and directly went into the living room. Then she screamed, “Oh my! Grandma! What a surprise! I didn’t know you were going to come.” Grandma said, “Oh my, little one! I wanted to surprise you, so I didn’t call on purpose.” She hugged Alicia.
Alicia said, “Let’s go to the new mall in town, grandma. There is a movie I really want to see. We can watch it together.” Grandma said ok, and Alicia rushed into her room to get dressed. She took her money from her money box because she wanted to buy the movie ticket for her grandma. Unfortunately, she didn’t have enough money. She thought, “My mom has some extra money in the big red jar in the kitchen, so I can take some and put that back before mom realizes.” She went into the kitchen and took some money from mom’s jar.
Then, Grandma and Alicia went to the mall. Next, Alicia saw an advertisement outside the movie theatre. “Buy one popcorn and get your coke free”. She wanted to buy the popcorn and the coke. She also bought two movie tickets. After that, they went bowling, and Alicia paid for it. Then, they decided to walk back home because it was sunny. When they were walking past the park, Alicia saw her school friend, Martin. He was flying a kite. Alicia waved at him, and he smiled at Alicia. When they got home, mom was very sad and sitting on the couch. Alicia and Grandma said, “What’s wrong?”. Mom said, “I save some money in my red jar for a long time. I needed to do some shopping for dinner, so I went to take some of it. I only found 30$ in it! I am sure I had more!” Alicia felt so sorry, and said “Mom, I took some of it for today because the money I saved was not enough. I am terribly sorry.” Mom was shocked and said, “Alicia, why didn’t you ask for permission? You can’t take someone else’s money without asking!”. Alicia said, “I’m really sorry. I promise I am going to save next week’s pocket money and put it back in the jar.” Mom warned Alicia about not doing it again, and borrowed some money from grandma. Later, she went shopping.
