'Alone Island'
Laura: Hey, Ryan! Welcome home. How are you doing?
Ryan: Hi! I’m fine, but a bit tired from work. We’re pretty busy because of the holidays. What are you doing?
Laura: I’m just relaxing, watching TV.
Ryan: Anything good on? I need to relax.
Laura: ‘Alone Island.’ They are taking this guy to a desert island. They are going to leave him there and see what happens.
Ryan: Really? Why?
Laura: It’s funny and entertaining.
Ryan: It sounds interesting. What is he doing now? Why is he picking things off that table?
Laura: Before he goes to the island, he chooses 3 survival items. The show gives him some food but he must survive by himself. He has to find somewhere to sleep, build fires, and stuff. Each day they give him a task. If he does it well enough, he’ll get some extra food.
Ryan: How long is he staying on the island? Weeks? Months?
Laura: Just a week. Look! He’s picking his item—a mobile phone? an umbrella? bug spray? Wow! I don’t think he’ll survive with those! What would you take, Ryan?
Ryan: The umbrella is a good idea. You can use it as a tent, and go fishing with the metal parts. I think something to cut wood and definitely the first aid kit.
