AMAZING PLACES: LECHUGUILLA CAVE, USA

It is the fifth-longest cave (193 kilometres long) in the world, and the deepest cave in the USA (497 metres deep). Many people think it is the most beautiful cave in the world. Inside Lechuguilla it is too dark to see anything without a torch, and it is very quiet. Cavers say it is so quiet inside the cave that you can hear your heart beating. It is incredibly hot. The temperature inside the cave is much warmer than the desert outside. Every caver wants to go inside Lechuguilla because it is so beautiful. The water inside the cave is so clear that you can’t see it. But Lechuguilla Cave is not open to the public. In fact, Lechuguilla is the most difficult cave in the world to get into. This is because scientists are the only people who can enter this cave.
