AMAZON ADVENTURE

AMAZON ADVENTURE

Dear Aunt Marie,

We went on a tropical rainforest vacation! We were so tired of the bad weather that we had to get away from home. I slept in a tent in the jungle! Can you believe it? You know I love insects, right? I saw the biggest bugs I have ever seen in my life. Most people would be afraid of them, but not me. Did you know there are 30 million types of insects in the Amazon? My favorite was the bullet ants. They are over 3 centimeters long, and when they sting you, it feels like a gunshot. Luckily, none of them bit me. I also saw fishing spiders. They are 20 centimeters wide! They live next to the river. They can glide across the water and catch fish! Can you imagine seeing a spider catch a fish from the river and then eat it? The worst part was the howler monkeys. They woke me up early every morning! They started screaming as soon as the sun rose, and I had the weirdest dreams because of them. The Amazon is not for everyone. There were two men who were in our group. One of them found a poison dart frog in his bag on the first night. They are tiny but deadly. The men were so scared that they returned home the next day!

Love,

Candace
