An Amazing Career
Charlize Theron is one of the most famous actresses in Hollywood film history. She was born in South Africa and she has been an American citizen since 2008. She is still a South African citizen, too. She has been in a lot of very successful films. She won an Oscar for her performance as a serial killer in Monster (2003) and has had roles in many other films including, North Country (2005), Young Adult (2011), Snow White and the Huntsman (2012), Mad Max: Fury Road (2015) and Atomic Blonde (2017). She hasn’t directed any films herself yet. She has already earned millions of dollars. She has also become the first African to win an Oscar.
Even as a young child she was interested in dancing and acting. In 1981, Theron began ballet lessons at the age of six and went to a boarding school to study dance. She had to stop ballet when she badly hurt her knee, though. She continued acting and never gave up on her dream.
In 2007, she founded the Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project. She has helped a lot of African children since 2007. She has worked hard to keep them safe from a lot of diseases. In 2010, she adopted a son called Jackson. She is 42 years old now.
