AN INTERVIEW WITH ED STAFFORD: AN EXPLORER AND A SURVIVER
He has walked the length of the Amazon River and survived alone on a desert island for 60 days without food or gear. But why? And what's next? Ed Stafford talks about his adventures.
Interviewer: 1. .................................................................................?
Ed: Yes, I was. I grew up in a village near a mountain, so I spent most of my time building tree houses. I loved my time in the Scouts too. There, I learned the basics of how to look after myself.
Interviewer: 2. .................................................................................?
Ed: With a trip like this, it's easy to have problems. We planned for every possibility. We stopped at towns and bought our medicine and supplies. A doctor from ExpeMed trained us and taught us what to do in an emergency.
Interviewer: 3. .................................................................................?
Ed: It did. We were lucky. We had so much kindness and help along the way, so I now believe there is some kind of universal force for good in the world. I now also believe that if you really want something, you can make it happen.
Interviewer: 4. .................................................................................?
Ed: Definitely. I have a different perspective on life now. Of course, I had to build shelter, make fire and feed myself, but at the same time it was about finding comfort in myself. It's been great fun and I want to keep doing it.
