Andrea: A Letter to a Friend
Dear Chloe,
It was great to get your letter the other day. I love hearing about everything you are doing these days. You seem to be having a great time at your new school, and your new house sounds amazing.
You will never believe what has happened to me! I entered a competition a month ago. It was a drawing competition and we had to draw something that we love about our city. I chose to draw a picture of all the pigeons feeding in the square, and some of the famous buildings and statues in the background. I used lots of colour and it was quite abstract. After I sent my picture off, I totally forgot about it, so I was really surprised when they called me to tell me that I had won first prize. The first prize is a trip to any capital city in Europe! I haven't chosen which city yet, but I think I would like to go to either Madrid or London.
Apart from this, everything else is quite normal. School is good. I am still playing netball and we had a match against another school last week, which we also won! Do you remember my brother, Ben? He is taking his GCSEs this year so he is studying really hard for them and is not much fun at all. In fact, he had to give up playing football and basketball so he could focus more. Write to me soon and let me know what your plans are for summer. I will let you know which city I choose and send you a postcard from there.
Love,
Andrea
