ANOTHER HURRICANE
Dear Aunt Marie,
Kevin is my hero! He has just left our house after fixing our front door. Actually, he helped my dad fix everything! Do you know why? Because we had a hurricane, too! This is such a bad year. Let me tell you what happened. First, Kevin called me and told me to turn on the television because there was news about a potential hurricane in our area. I turned it on, but the signal was out, so we couldn’t watch anything. Then, my dad had a good idea. He turned on the radio. I didn’t know that we had a radio in our house! I thought they were just for cars. Anyway, we learned that the hurricane was coming directly to our town! I was so scared. I told my dad to turn down the volume because the news report made me feel so stressed. Kevin called me again and said he was coming to our house. I told him to turn back because it was very dangerous to be outside on a bicycle. Of course, he didn’t listen. When he got to our house, it was pouring rain. Kevin was soaking wet! My dad gave him some of his clothes to wear. It was really weird seeing Kevin in my dad’s clothes. Anyway, the hurricane came and blew the neighbor’s garbage cans against the front of our house. They broke all the windows! Then the tree in our front yard blew over and broke the front door! After the hurricane passed, it got so quiet. We went outside and walked around the neighborhood. There was so much damage! My dad’s friend’s car turned over in the wind! I can’t believe how strong the storm was. We’re all safe, though. How are you?
Love,
Candace
