ARE NEW COMEDIES AS FUNNY AS OLD ONES?

Recently, BBC Culture released a list titled ‘The 100 Greatest Comedies of all Time’. Last year, they released a list titled ‘100 Greatest Films of the 21 st Century’. Very few humourous films were on the list of the greatest films. Zoolander, Hot Fuzz and Anchorman were among recent films to make BBC Culture’s top 100 comedies. But will they be as well remembered as Some Like It Hot, the 1959 comedy that was at the top of the Greatest Comedies list? Remarkably, 15 of the films on the top 100 comedies list were made since 2000, with the highest-ranked film of the new century being Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, at number 33. Anchorman wasn’t on the 100 greatest films of the 21 st Century list at all. One film that did make the list, Toni Erdmann, was released in 2016.
