Are You Superstitious?
Taylor: ‘I’m a tennis player and wear my lucky socks to all my important matches.
I don’t really think they help me win, but they give me a sense of control and power.
I hold these socks dear because they are a gift from my grandmother for my first championship.’
Francis: ‘Recently unlucky things have happened in my life. So this weekend I’m going to see a fortune teller,
because I think someone has changed my life with his or her evil eye.
Some people call my belief in the evil superstition, and I understand why.
But it’s always better to be safe than sorry, right?’
Lola: ‘I believe that there’s a hidden energy everywhere you go.
I’m very careful about where to put things around the house.
I choose the correct colours and put the furniture in the correct places to avoid people’s bad thoughts.
When my guests bring me gifts, I throw them away because there might be bad intentions in those gifts.
This is true. I have experienced it, and I don’t understand why people call it superstition.’
