Around New York City

Hi, it’s François again! Today I want to talk about two important landmarks in New York City.

The Statue of Liberty is probably the most famous statue in the world. It is a gift from the French to Americans because the United States is the best example of a free country. It is about 145 years old! Every year, lots of tourists come to New York City to take pictures of the statue. It is an amazing work of art.

The Empire State Building has 102 floors and it is 443 metres tall. American workers started building it in 1930 and finished it in about a year. It was the tallest building in the world until 1970. There are lots of important company offices in the building.

To get to these two places, you can get a map at an office in some train stations. The maps are easy to read and you can find all the information about different places on them.
