Aunt Helen

Dear Aunt Helen,

I am sorry I haven’t written to you in a long time. I want to write to you every week, but I have been really busy lately. I have some good news. I am going to give a speech in front of my whole school next week! My speech will be about science fiction films. I have seen lots of sci-fi films in my life, and I am an expert on the subject. My father is a director in Hollywood. He made the first two Star Trek films, and he has taught me a lot. My classmates don’t know much about Star Trek or sci-fi in general, so I love to teach them about it. Usually I just talk to my friends, but next week will be different. There will be 400 people watching me. I have never spoken to more than five people at one time. I am so nervous!

Have you ever spoken to a large group before? I have done a lot of research and I have written an article that I will use to structure my speech, but what should I do if I get scared? I am so worried that I will forget about my topic, lose my notes, or forget how to talk. I forgot the name Luke Skywalker while I was telling my friends about Star Wars last week! Do you have any advice for me?

Thanks! I miss you! How are you doing?

Calista
