Barry King The Best Surfer Ever!
Our guest today is Barry King. He is one of the most talented surfers in the world!
Interviewer: Barry, you have so much surfing experience. Which countries have you surfed in?
Barry: Well, I live in England and I also surf there, mostly in Cornwall. But I was born and grew up in Australia so I’ve surfed in Sydney as well as Indonesia, Hawaii, and California. I loved Indonesia the most, it’s definitely my favourite.
Interviewer: Think of three beaches in the world. Which is the best one to surf at?
Barry: Well, in England I choose Fistral Beach in Cornwall, and in Australia it is definitely Bondi Beach in Sydney. Sunset Beach in Oahu, Hawaii is also amazing.
Interviewer: Are the size of the waves in these three places very different?
Barry: Yes, the wave sizes are very different in these places. Generally, the smallest waves are in Newquay in England. Sydney has medium-sized waves, but you can surf all year round. Hawaii has the biggest waves in the world.
Interviewer: What sort of accidents can happen?
Barry: The main danger in surfing is your surfboard. When you fall off a wave and the wave pushes you under water, your board can easily hit you, which generally results in an injury. Sometimes you might hit the bottom of the ocean, which can be sand, rocks, or coral. You should definitely avoid doing this. You might also have people surfing over you when the surf’s crowded.
Interviewer: I see. And where are you surfing next?
Barry: It really depends on the weather. If the waves are good in Ireland, I’ll go and surf there. If the waves are good in Morocco, I’ll go and surf there.
