Bee or Wasp

Bee or Wasp

There are so many flying insects. Some insects live together only in some countries or in specific areas. However, bees and wasps are found all around the world. It is difficult to decide if something is a bee or wasp, because they look similar. Strangely, they are different animals.

Let’s have a look at the traits of a wasp and a bee. The body of a bee is long and fat. A wasp’s body is also long, but it is thinner than a bee’s. Both have two pairs of wings, often brightly coloured.

Bees have hairy bodies and legs. On the other hand, wasps’ legs and bodies are smoother. You have to look at their legs to decide if it is a wasp or bee. Wasps have round and waxy legs, but bees have flatter and wider legs than wasps. Physically, bees are rounder than wasps. Bees are social animals. They always fly together. Wasps can be social or solitary. They sometimes enjoy being alone, so you often see a wasp flying alone. Wasps are more dangerous than bees. They live in different places, too. Bees live in geometric wax hives. Wasps live in thin and dry nests.
