Being in love with your job

Nowadays, many famous people are having their hair done by Ahmet Çoban, in Nişantaşı Makas Hair Salon. Ahmet Çoban is a 30-year old hairdresser who is in love with his job. He started on his own with three others in a very small salon but now he has a large team; he works with 45 other young professionals in three different salons. Many women who need changes with their hair prefer him because he solves all the problems and his customer’s hair is perfectly done in the end. His staff also serve his customers extremely well. A.Ç : When an unhappy woman comes to me, first I listen to her and try to understand the problem. Then I negotiate with her for the best solution because whatever a customer says might not be the best thing for her. The harmony of the skin and hair colour, the texture of the hair and the shape of the face are important details. Therefore, I need to find a way to make my customer believe in me, that I’ll do the best thing for her. Once she believes me, she is ready.

A.Ç : I do not like making radical changes because you have to be prepared for this process. Instead of changing colours completely, I prefer having the colour changed slightly.

INT : .............................................................................................. ?

A.Ç : It is a trending technique in hair colouring. My first customer had it applied on her hair around five years ago. She was a brunette and she wanted to have blonde hair. We talked about the possible conclusions and decided to apply ombre. She also had her hair cut and in the end she looked totally different but not a stranger to herself! After that, other customers started coming to have their hair done in the same way. However, I make every customer understand that everyone is different and that they cannot just say I want “Gisele Bundchen’s hair colour.”

A.Ç : Nowadays, being online is really important, especially if you like your job, you need to follow what is going on around you. If you do not improve yourself, you cannot survive. Therefore, I pay attention to being an efficient social media user. I have hired a team to carry out this part of the job for me. They have the photos taken, comments answered, news tweeted and campaigns announced through Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

A.Ç : Everyone needs to be better in whatever they are doing. If I’m the only one to get better, it would be useless. Therefore, of course, I pay special attention to the professional development of my colleagues. Every month, I invite a famous professional to our salon and we conduct workshops together.
