Black Friday

Black Friday

Black Friday is a day when shops discount their products to make people spend a lot of money. It lasts 24 hours and aims to get people to splash the cash in the run-up to Christmas.

Similar to European consumers, bargain hunters in Turkey often queue for hours to get the items they want on this special day. But unfortunately, the day isn’t always as innocent as expected. This shopping mania can cause violence among customers as they argue over discounted gadgets and appliances. Why is it called Black Friday?

The name Black Friday originally came from the UK and actually it refers to the Friday before Christmas. It’s called ‘Black’ because emergency services feel great pressure in the days before Christmas celebrations. However, today it means a huge shopping event.

How To Get Ready For Black Friday

Prepare: Research the items you want to buy and find out the cheapest price. There are some websites like Trendyol, Pricespy and Payhistory which will give you historical data on prices so you can see how much you should pay. So, you can see how much discount is on the item.

Get Following: Follow your favourite shops on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram to get the latest news on any offers.

Shop Online: As many customers may keep their eyes on the same items that you want to buy, be ready right after midnight to order. The number of the items may be limited so you might get disappointed when you put the items in your online shopping cart.

Shopping Centres: If you prefer going to a shopping centre instead of online shopping, you should choose the earliest times of the day. You can go right at the opening hour of the shopping centre so that you can find the items before the centre gets crowded. Otherwise, it’s very unlikely that you will find the correct size or item you are looking for because things sell out fast.

On the other hand, you could choose to avoid this shopping mania altogether and just get a cup of coffee after work or have some rest at home.
