Bollywood

The home of The U.S. movie industry, Hollywood, comes up with many movies every year. Some of these movies are not made in The U.S. They are made in other countries which also have huge movie making industries. To tell the truth, it’s not the U.S., which make the most movies in the world, it’s India. The movie industry of India is called Bollywood. It makes as many as 1,000 movies per year. They are all made in different languages, because many languages are spoken in India. However, many of these movies are in Hindi language, which is spoken the most in India. Millions of people watch these movies and they are the part of the culture of India. 

Bollywood movies have some main characters. Most of the characters are acted by famous Bollywood actors and actresses. They appear in many movies. Fans treat these stars like heroes. These actors and actresses are followed by people on screen and off screen. They watch the films with Bollywood stars. They also read about the lives of those stars both in newspapers and online.

Bollywood movies are also popular for their music. It’s not only background music, in the movies the characters often break out into song. They call this kind of movies “musicals” in America. However, in India musical movies are standard. The songs from the movies are generally played on the radio, that’s why we can say that they are a great source of the most popular music in India. 

Sometimes just two characters sing the songs, but most of the time they are sung by group of people with bright costumes and fun, energetic dance moves. As it’s obvious in all movies, dance is a huge part of Bollywood movies. The word “Bollywood” is sometimes used as the name of a dance style used in these movies. People do the Bollywood dance, not only in India, but also around the world!
