Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It keeps us healthy and sharp, but what people eat for breakfast is very different from one place to another. In European countries like Spain, France and Italy, the first meal of the day is a quick piece of bread or croissant and strong coffee. The English breakfast has eggs, sausage, beans, mushrooms and cooked tomato. Germans have fresh bread, cold meat, local cheese, butter and jam for breakfast. Traditional Japanese breakfast has miso soup, steamed white rice, pickled vegetables and protein like fish and Japanese omelette called tamagoyaki. In Russia, people like eating different cakes. There's cheese-stuffed syrniki, which is a kind of crepe made with kefir and is about the size of a biscuit.
