British Royalty Princess Diana Spencer
British royalty Princess Diana Spencer was born in Norfolk, England, on 1 July 1961. Diana, Princess of Wales, was one of the most adored members of the British royal family. She was the daughter of an aristocratic family. Her parents divorced when she was young, and she and her siblings were raised by their father. Although she was known for her shyness, she did show interest in music and dancing. Diana was also fond of children. After finishing her school in Switzerland, she moved to London. She began working with children, eventually becoming a kindergarten teacher.
Soon after, she started to date Prince Charles who was a friend of the Spencer family. The press and the public were fascinated by this couple. When the couple married in 1981, the ceremony was broadcast on television around the world and millions of viewers watched it. People considered it the wedding of the century. They had two sons: William and Harry. At first, Diana was satisfied with her royal duties and the interest of the media. She was beautiful and stylish and became the most photographed woman in the world. However, later she started to pursue her own interests. She became a strong supporter of many charities and worked to help the homeless, people living with AIDS and children in need. Unfortunately, the fairy tale wedding of Princess Diana and Prince Charles did not lead to a happily-ever-after marriage. The two separated in 1992 and officially divorced in 1996.
Even after the divorce, Diana maintained a high level of popularity. She devoted herself to her sons and charitable efforts. Diana used her international celebrity to help raise awareness about charity issues. She also continued to experience the negative aspects of fame. Her 1997 romance with Egyptian film producer Dodi Al-Fayed caused quite an excitement and became a media attraction. While visiting Paris, the couple were involved in a car crash after trying to escape from the paparazzi on the night of 30 August 1997. Unfortunately, they both died. News of her sudden death shocked the world and thousands turned out to attend her funeral. She was only 36 years old at the time of her death. People today still remember her as ‘People’s Princess’ because she was always one of them and she contributed to the well-being of humanity.
