Caring about the Environment

As a family, we are very careful about the environmental issues and we care about the world that we live in. We believe that people have many responsibilities to save the environment and we try our best for that. For example, in our house we always use rechargeable batteries to save some energy. As you know it is dangerous to throw batteries to the environment so we prefer rechargeable ones and I think they are more economical too. Me and my brother ride our bikes to go to school. It is more fun and it is a good exercise for us. In our family everybody is very careful about turning off the lights when we don’t need them. I always warn my friends about this at school too but many people don’t care about it. I talked about this to one of my teachers and we found a solution for that. We prepared note cards under each switch that reminds people to turn off the lights before they leave the room and the principal of the school said we have saved some energy with the help of this solution. Last week, we did the same thing to save water. Under each tap, there is a note saying “Remember to turn off the tap after you are finished with it”. I think we have saved so much water with the help of this note too.

My parents are very careful about this issue too. They don’t drive cars very often. Most of the time, they travel by public transport to go to work. In the past they drove their own cars and they spent a lot of money on fuel. My father said since February, they have saved 400 dollars because they don’t drive anymore. As you can see, in our family everybody cares about the environment and we are very careful about not to waste anything.
