Carl and I

Carl and I

My best friend Carl and I love to go on holidays.
However, we like to do them in different ways.  I think camping is the best, and I told him so.
“Camping is great!  There are so many different activities you can do,” I said.

“Really?  Like getting eaten by bugs?” he laughed.

“No,” I said, a little irritated.  “You can go trekking in the woods and see nature’s beauty.
It’s very peaceful and relaxing.  Also, it’s interesting to see all the different animals, especially birds.
I like to go bird watching with my grandfather.”  “That sounds so boring!” Carl snorted.

I ignored his comment.  “Also, you can have campfires, go rafting down the rivers, fishing, and enjoy the peace and quiet.”

“I have to disagree with you, Beth,” Carl said. “Spending a holiday at the resort is much better.
You don’t have to cook because the hotel gives you breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You just order at the restaurants.
Also, going to the beach for sunbathing and swimming in the sea is relaxing.”

“You mean getting burnt and listening to all the kids shouting at the beach? No thanks!” I said.

“You can also go water-skiing, sightseeing, and go on boat trips.  Sometimes I even go scuba diving,” he said.

“Well, the best thing about camping is that it’s cheaper than a resort!” I said. “Er, yes.  That is true,” Carl admitted.
