He took this work so seriously that he founded a charity in 1992. It was called The Elton John AIDS Foundation. This foundation has many activities such as raising money for HIV/AIDS prevention programmes and helping people with this illness in various ways. The charity also tries to fight against prejudice and discrimination towards people with AIDS and their families and friends. Some would say that working against discrimination is his major contribution to the HIV/AIDS cause.

The foundation has been more than just a fund for the victims of that specific hurricane. In its website the quote says: “Our mission is to assist families and individuals whose lives have been affected by disasters, natural or otherwise, and have been displaced. We also help those in need by providing assistance to individuals suffering from HIV/AIDS and homelessness.”
