Centenarian Tips

There are lots of people today who can live more than 100 years. But what’s the secret to their achievement. Is it because of their genetics or their lifestyle? We talked to two centenarians, and here are their responses.

Catherine: ‘My parents died at 72 and 67, so I don’t think I’ve got my long life from them. I think it has something to do with the food. I’ve never eaten oily foods, but I’ve always had my breakfast like a queen. I think another factor is that I’ve been very active. Even now, with my weak legs, I do the shopping and cook at home. Nobody has run errands for me.’

Joseph: ‘My parents both lived past the age of 100. I think I was lucky to be their children. I can’t believe that I am 100 years old and can still be mentally and physically active. I think food and the environment are important, but I haven’t always had a good diet. We were always poor until I was 20, and then there were the World Wars, which made our lives horrible for many years.’
