Changing Climates

Changing Climates

1) ................................. The sun naturally warms the Earth and certain gases, such as carbon dioxide, trapping the heat in the atmosphere. The human race adds to this problem by burning oil, coal, and gases which increases the overheating of our planet. As a result, in Britain, scientists have discovered that Spring is starting earlier each year.
2) ................................... If people overgraze land with their animals, this takes away the ground cover. Without plants, it is harder for the soil to hold water and the ground gets hotter and drier each day. The result is drier air and less rain fall, which can turn the land into a desert.
3) ................................... A dramatic affect of global warming is the melting of the polar icecaps. When the ice melts, the sea level increases, and low lying land is slowly being covered in water. In the next 100 years it is estimated 20% of the current land area on Earth will be covered in water.
