Choose A Food Title
“Food miles are the distance a certain food has to travel from its point of origin to its point of destination”, said food expert, Helena Stratford. In today’s world, depending on the country, 50-90 percent of the food comes from abroad. Most fruits and vegetables are imported. There are many different ways of transporting foods but the least recommended method is by air. It is not really environmentally friendly, although it is the fastest. The greenhouse gases released by planes are polluting the air. That is why some brands label their products in order to let customers know what they are buying is not environmentally good.
The most common transportation method is the one by lorry. Every day, tons of foods are carried by lorries in and out of the country. This is a cheaper method and it is preferred by sellers more than the freights. The best and cleanest way of transporting food is by ships. In this way, it might take a little more time, yet it still comes safely. Overall, transporting food is not really a friendly approach to save the world. If we really want to help reduce the environmental pollution and effects, we can buy locally produced food or we may prefer foods transported by the sea.
