Computers then and now

My name is Julian, and I’m a computer specialist in a company. I was born in 1980,
so I lived about half of my life without computers and the Internet.
My experience with new computers is that these days computer companies don’t make computer parts to last a long time. I understand this because computer programs get more and
more complex and need better computer parts.
But I don’t understand one thing. Computer companies make computers in a way that you can’t fix them easily.
You just have to buy a new part or completely change the computer.
When I was younger we used to upgrade our computers little by little, so after two years,
our computers had all the new parts that they didn’t use to have.
But now you have to change the whole computer because it’s too difficult to fix,
or when it’s fixed it doesn’t work like it used to. This is also true about mobile phones.
In the past, mobile phones came with all the best features that we could use for more than 4 years.
We didn’t use to purchase a mobile phone every year just because of a new feature. But these days,
phone companies make phones in a way that you have to buy a new one if you want that little new feature!
It’s just pathetic!
