Cory Richards
A famous explorer and a photographer Cory Richards decided to go on his 3rd expedition to climb Mount Everest.
When he was only a teenager, he began to pursue his adventurous dreams that led his life towards how it is today.
He was a troubled teen and he had been into so many addictions and miseries from alcoholism to infidelity.
When he reached the age 35, he thought that he was ready for Mount Everest, which was also his childhood dream.
He made peace with his past and took it as it is. He even demonstrated his life story with the photos he had taken before to the audience. He thought that honesty would be the only way to get rid of the bad aura.
Some of his childhood photos became so popular. “This photograph of me at about age three was taken in a campground, and that says something about my parents.
My parents believed that getting my brother and me outside and instilling within us a curiosity about the natural world was pivotal to our development, so they began that process very early.
That curiosity has been helpful for me throughout my life.”
He was a very uncomfortable and insecure guy until he reached to a certain age.
He used to think that he wouldn’t fit anywhere. Mountain was the only place where he felt secure and completed.
This is how he started his career on the mountains. Climbing and exploring were and still are his motivation.
“In the winter of 2010-11, I was asked to go to northwest Pakistan to climb Gasherbrum II,
an 8,000-meter peak on the border of India and I knew it was going to change my life but I didn’t know what I was going to do afterwards”, he said.
The conditions were very tough and all the climbers including him were very anxious but everything went well and he felt so good that he didn’t remember anything from his dark past.
This was the day he thought it would be his life-long career.
He later on felt very insecure as if he never climbed when the time arrived for Everest.
He was in love with the idea but still hesitating. At the first attempt,
they failed because of the weather condition and the wet terrain but then they made it to the summit!
He has never felt that good in all his life.
