Craziness in sports

1) Freerunning is not considered to be a sport by some people. You can’t usually race in competitions or win medals or prizes, and most free runners aren’t interested in them. You can do freerunning in a town or city. It’s quite dangerous because free runners run, jump and climb fast over walls, roofs, buildings, stairs. They use their hands and feet to move around like cats.

2) One of the most dangerous sports is probably BASE jumping. Many BASE jumpers die every year. They jump off tall buildings; bridges and mountains. They’ve got a small parachute on their backs – but they fall so quickly that they have to be fast to open them! If they can’t open the chute on time, they’re likely to hit the ground hard.

3) Adrenalin junkies aren’t only interested in heights, but also depths. Cave diving is another extreme sport. Divers climb down into the deep caves flooded with water. They swim through caves which are very dark. The divers explore using a powerful lamp attached to their heads like miners. They swim carefully otherwise they can’t get out of the cave.

4) Street luge is used to race along the roads. Luges look like big skateboards. Racers lie down on the board with their feet at the front of the luge and race down-hill! They go so fast that sometimes they reach up to 140 kilometres per hour. They use their feet to stop. They wear helmets and pads because they have a lot of accidents.
